JONKMAN - Michael William Jonkman, of Rockford, joined his heavenly Father on Tuesday morning, October 21, 2014 at the age of 58. Mike was born the second child of Bill and Arlene Jonkman who predeceased him, as well as his in-laws Bill and Pat Darcy. Mike leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 32 years, Mary Beth "Darcy", and his two sons of whom he was so proud; Dalton and Mackenzie. Mike is also survived by his sister, Jackie Del Raso and his brother, Jim (Suzanne) Jonkman; his uncle, Bob Lang; and aunt, Dag Bennett as well as numerous cousins, including Joe, Paul, Steve, and Matt Lang, Terry, and Pat O'Hearn, whom Mike considered as brothers. Also surviving are Mike's nephews; Brandon, Kevin, Patrick (Shannon) Del Raso, Luke (Collin), & Joe Jonkman; Michael, William, Colin, Patrick & Jacob (Victoria) Darcy; Billy (Sherra) & Brendan Cleary and nieces LillyAnne Jonkman, Mary Elizabeth Del Raso, Kaitlyn Darcy and Jennie (Chuck) Markovic and a host of dear friends and colleagues. If you ever met Mike, he became a friend for life. Mike graduated from West Catholic High School, class of 1974. He secured employment with Steelcase, which he left after two years, to explore "out west" with his life long friend, Vince Koperski. Never doubting his decision, he returned back to Michigan refreshed and determined to enjoy and appreciate nature, fellowship, camaraderie, and humanitarianism. This led to a career with Hope Network, which he maintained throughout the remainder of his life. It was during this time, Mike met the love of his life, Mary Beth, and they married soon after. Mike's infectious smile, ever present positive outlook, and zest for life were a part of his being. He truly appreciated each day as a gift from God and His beautiful creation. We will remember his kind and generous spirit as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior, on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 4351 Parnell Avenue, Ada with Rev. Father Mark Peacock and Rev. Father Joachim Lally officiating. Additionally all are welcome following the service to participate in a celebration of Mike's life at his home, 10700 Teft Avenue, Rockford. Memorials in Mike's memory may be made to the Rogue River Community Theatre, a passion of Mike's, or a charity of your choice.
