Obituary

MARGELIS - Michael P. Margelis, Wednesday, June 19, 1946 - Wednesday, April 19, 2017. Once in a lifetime you get a best friend who is also your husband. Almost 47 years. Good times and there were "tons" of these, dreaming, living, planning, doing and loving. And bad times, funny, but I can't remember these now, but we always got through them, always stronger. Mike was blessed with two wonderful children, Jennifer (Pete) Mitchell and Joel (Andrea) Margelis, four loving grandchildren, Nathaniel, Odelia, Anna and Joshua. Mike "loved" to take walls down and build "new" rooms. I will see and feel him forever in every room of our house. He also loved golf, Twizzlers, and was a lifetime member at the Elks. He also served in the Michigan National Guard. I will miss him everyday, but am eternally grateful to God that he is at peace. He is survived by his sister, Ellen and her children, Giles, Cam and Julian Hefferan. Our very special sister-in-law, Sue Margelis and her children, Christopher and Nicholas; sisters and brothers-in-laws, Tom and Eydie Riley and children, Yvonne and Tom Puksta and children, Gloria Heflin-Oats and children. Plus his loving uncle, Jack Parsh, who he talked to regularly. Cousins, Jackie (Bob) Ryan, Steve, Phillip (Donna) and Tommy Parsh. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Al; brother, Rick; cousin, David Parsh; and aunts and uncles. The immediate family will receive family and friends at the Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park on Monday, April 24, 2017 from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 11:00 A.M., with visitation one hour prior, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1200 Alpine Church Road, with Rev. Father Thomas G. Simons officiating and under auspice of the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard. A luncheon reception will immediately follow at the Grand Rapids Elks, lower level, 2715 Leonard St. NW. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Blanford Nature Center, 1715 Hillburn Ave NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504. Attention to: "campaign for the golf course". Visitation
