Obituary

NancyLee Homa Dykstra, age 83, of White Cloud, Michigan, went to be with her Lord and savior Jesus Christ and her husband, Sam on Monday, June 15, 2026, after multiple battles with cancer. Nan was born January 16, 1943, in Flint, Michigan, to the late John and Dorothy (Nester) Homa. Nan graduated from Beecher High School with the class of 1961 and went on to obtain a bachelor's degree in medical lab technology from Hurley Medical School.

Nan proudly served her country for 24 years in the Army Reserves. During her time in the service, Nan met and married Samuel Dykstra on August 20, 1988, in Walker, Michigan. The two built a life rooted in love, commitment, and shared faith. They spent most of their years in the Flint area until after Sam's retirement when they moved to White Cloud to pursue their passion for farming. They celebrated 37 years of marriage together before Sam passed away on March, 31, 2026.

If Nan wasn’t with her beloved husband Sam, you’d often find her working in her flower beds, crocheting her heart out, watching a movie, reading, hosting family on the farm, or naming the newest baby animal that made its arrival on the farm.

Survivors include her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rena (Joe) Penkala, Anna (Ed) Memmelaar, Alberta (John) French, Shirley (Albert) Brewton, Carolyn (Tim) Boersma, Tina (Dean) Rooks, Jeff (Kristi) Dykstra, Cecelia (Bob) Sisco, Albert (Lora) Dykstra, and Hank (Betty) Dykstra; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Nan was preceded in death by her husband, Sam; her parents; and great-nephew, Owen Dykstra.

Visitation will take place from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Trinity Christian Reformed Church, 660 S State St, Sparta, MI 49345, with the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Shaun M. Furniss and Rev. C.J. den Dulk officiating. Nan will be laid to rest at Lisbon Cemetery in Sparta.

Memorial donations may be given to the Mighty Oaks Foundation, (an organization that assists veterans), Edison Christian Health Center, or Faith Hospice.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to The Christian Rest Home and Faith Hospice for their help, care, and compassion throughout this difficult time.
