BAWEJA - Pamela "Pam" L. (Wandrey) Baweja, age 68, of Grand Rapids, went to be with the Lord with her sister and daughters by her side on Thursday, February 4, 2021. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 37 years, Robert Baweja; parents, Warren and Elizabeth Wandrey; son, Steven Baweja; adopted daughter, Monique Dixon; and grandson, Alaric VandenBerg. Pam is survived by her children, Melissa (Michael) Waddell, Kimberly (Aaron) VandenBerg, Stephanie (Corey) Shafer; grandchildren, Kai Waddell, Avery VandenBerg, Katerina VandenBerg, Libby Shafer; and sister, Sharon Wandrey. Pam will be remembered for her many talents such as music, sewing, crafting and crocheting. Above all, there was nothing more important in life to Pam than her family. Pam cherished spending time with her grandchildren and would often enjoy phone calls and video chats when they were unable to visit. From her sister, daughters, and grandchildren: "Your warmth, good humor, kind spirit, and memory will live on in us, and every life you have touched. Until we see you again, give Dad and everyone else a big hug and *mwah!* from us. Love you later." A service will be held in memory of Pam this spring.
Pamela Louise (Wandrey) Baweja completed her life journey of 68 years on Thursday, February 4, 2021, at 8:32 p.m. in Wyoming, Michigan when, after weeks of fighting, she succumbed to various medical complications. She moved on to be with the Lord with her sister and daughters by her side.
Pamela (Pam) Wandrey was born on March 4, 1952 to Warren and Elizabeth Wandrey, in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Soon, their family expanded with the addition of another daughter: Pam's sister, Sharon. They grew up in Wyoming, Michigan, and Pam eventually went on to complete a degree at Grand Rapids Junior College so she could become a medical assistant. On May 3, 1975, she married her husband Bob, and five years later began a family, welcoming daughters Melissa Beth, Kimberly Ann, Stephanie Marie, and, down the line, adopted daughter Monique DeCarla. Needless to say, their house was very seldom quiet.
Pam was a woman of many talents. She played piano, sung in the choir at St. John's United Church of Christ (where she attended church every Sunday for many, many years), where she also directed the church's youth choir. After her departure from St. John's, she continued to share her musical talents by playing the handbells at the Basilica of St. Adalbert.
She was also quite adept at creating things with her hands. During their youth, Pam created delightful Halloween costumes for her daughters and, much to their chagrin, a few "unforgettable" matching outfits. This knack continued throughout her entire life, progressing to various crafts and crocheting. Pam was forever making scarves, blankets, ornaments, jewelry, and the like for her entire family, which they will continue to cherish as a physical reminder of her love.
Above all, there was nothing more important in life to Pam than her family. Her daughters recall fondly scavenger hunts, block parties, Yule log videos, and jokes that never quite managed to land, which made them all the funnier. Pam cherished spending time with her grandchildren, who will carry along with them dear memories of their Grandma, including her loving nicknames of "pumpkin pie" and "sweetie pie". She would often enjoy phone calls and video chat when her grandchildren were unable to visit, and embark on vending machine adventures and playing silly games when they could. Her walls were adorned with pictures of her grandkids and the artwork they had made her over the years, of whom she would proudly talk the ear off of anyone who she came into contact with. Additionally, friends and family have no lack of amusing stories to tell of Pam's life, and will readily do so (chocolate cake, anyone?).
Pamela was welcomed into Heaven by her husband, Robert Baweja; parents, Warren and Elizabeth Wandrey; son, Steven Baweja; adopted daughter, Monique Dixon; and grandson, Alaric VandenBerg. Her warming presence will be forever missed in the lives of her surviving family: sister, Sharon Wandrey; children, Melissa (Michael) Waddell, Kimberly (Aaron) VandenBerg, Stephanie (Corey) Shafer; grandchildren, Kai Waddell, Avery VandenBerg, Katerina VandenBerg, and Libby Shafer.
From her sister, daughters, and grandchildren: your warmth, good humor, kind spirit, and memory will live on in us, and every life you have touched. Until we see you again, give Dad and everyone else a big hug and *mwah!* from us.
Love you later.
