MURRAY - Patrick "Pat" J. Murray, age 72, of Grand Rapids, entered into eternal rest after a battle with ALS on Friday, January 22, 2021. Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Jr. and Mary Lou Murray; and granddaughter, Susannah Murray. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 40 years, Patricia Murray; children, Michelle Murray, Patrick (Belinda) Murray, Kathleen (Vanda) Murray and Mary (Eddie) Wolfe; grandchildren, Samuel Williams, Grace Williams, Gabriel Toledo, Isabella Jelks, Lily Wolfe, Lucy Wolfe and Carter Williams; siblings, Lawrence (Marianne) Murray, Mary Ann Murray, and James (Tessa) Murray; in-laws, Leonard (Tina) Darling, Cindi (James) Flak, Daniel (Paddy) Darling, Roy (Joanne) Darling, and Rev. Father George Darling. Pat proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he was wounded and hospitalized for two years. Upon returning home, he graduated from Aquinas College. He started his career as a real estate agent. Pat will be remembered most for his strange sense of humor and his love of anything to do with being outdoors, especially duck hunting. He was an avid baseball fan and spent much of his free time woodworking and making wood carvings. Pat was a member of Vietnam Veterans, Disabled American Veterans, Creston VFW Post 3023, Marne American Legion, Combat Infantry Organization and West Walker Sportsmans Club. The family would especially like to thank the staff at Emmanuel Hospice for all their care and compassion. The family will receive family and friends at Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park, on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior, with Rev. Father George Darling officiating. Private interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
