ZIMMER - Paul R. Zimmer, Sr., age 87, of Alpine Township, passed peacefully from his earthly existence to eternal life with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 3, 2021. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Zimmer (Maddox) to whom he was married for nearly 65 years; son, Michael P. Zimmer; daughter, Kathryn M. Johnson; granddaughter, Cathy McManus-Rector; great-grandchildren, Isabella Huttenga and Joseph Zimmer; and parents, Paul H. and Ardella R. Zimmer. Paul and Jackie were high school sweethearts at Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School and were married at Sacred Heart Church in May 1953. They began their married life together with Paul working for the C&O Railroad as a machinist, retiring from there after forty years of service. Paul is survived by son, Paul R. (Linda) Zimmer; daughters, Barbara (Claude) McManus and Margaret (Brian) Smith; son-in-law, Michael Johnson; sister, Eileen Brown; brother, David (Norma) Zimmer; eleven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. The family wishes to acknowledge the wonderful care Paul received at The Oaks at Belmont. The kindness, compassion and dedication of The Oaks staff was regularly acknowledged by Paul and sincerely appreciated by his family. Similarly, the family wishes to thank Fr. Chris Rouech and Faith Hospice for the spiritual and compassionate care Paul and his family received during the difficult time of his passing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1200 Alpine Church Road, Comstock Park, on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., with Fr.
