SLOBODA - Peter Sloboda Jr. age 85, of Grand Rapids passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2016. Peter went peacefully to be with his Lord while surrounded by his family. Peter is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley; their sons, Greg, Tim, and Paul (Michelle); their daughter, Sheryl (Judd) Henk; grandsons, Mitchell Sloboda, Clay Henk, Dell Henk; sister, Lucy (Clarence) Maat; brother, Walt (Lois); in-laws, Helen Sloboda, Pat (John) Slavich, Jan (Doug) Fetrow, Mike (Carole) Roskiewicz, David Roskiewicz, Elva Anderson, Phyllis Roskiewicz, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Frances Sloboda; brother, Casmir; daughter-in-law, Michelle (Alt). Peter proudly served his country in the United States Army National Guard for six years. After 42 years of service with Otis Elevator Company, he enjoyed golfing, bowling, and spending time with family and friends. The family will receive family and friends at the Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park, on Sunday, January 10, 2016 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM and Monday, January 11, 2016 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. The funeral service honoring Peter will be held at the Beuschel Funeral Home following the visitation on Monday, January 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM, with Tim Malinowski officiating and under the auspice of the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will follow in Rosedale Memorial Gardens at 3:00 PM. The family expresses special thanks to Peter's Hospice Nurse, Kathy Babcock, and the entire team at Faith Hospice Trillium Woods for the wonderful care they gave our dear husband and father at such a critical time.
