Obituary

VANOEFFELEN - PHILLIP "ACE" J. VanOeffelen, age 64, of Sparta, passed away peacefully to his Lord and Savior, on Thursday, February 2, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Rose VanOeffelen; In-laws, George and Lorraine Raap; brothers, Jim and Steve VanOeffelen; sister, Mary Juanis; brother-in-laws, Al Harris, Len Bellamy and Arlan Lundquist; niece Kimberly VanOeffelen; nephews, Marty VanOeffelen and Todd Bellamy. Phil is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Peg (Margaret); children, Jim (Christy) McCuaig; Melanie (Mathew) Godleski and Margaret (Pavel) Ibarra; grandchildren, Samantha, Anna, Jake, Alexis, Luke, Colin, Oliver, Alondra and Bruno; Siblings: sisters, Barb Bellamy, Ruthann Harris, Marcia Lundquist, and Lucy Rasch; brothers, Fred (Sue), Paul (Paulette) and Mike (Linda) VanOeffelen. His in-laws, Mary Johnston, George (Judy) Raap, Vickie Maile, LeeAnne (Cal Klooster) Holzen, Glen (Barb) Sneider, Andy (Lynn) Raap and Tom (Debby) Raap; many other ralatives and special friends. Phil was a lifetime farmer in the Sparta, Conklin area and worked at the Sparta Feed Mill for several years. His favorite color was John Deere green. Phil liked to help others and volunteered after he no longer could farm. He loved everyone he met and would tell everyone about Jesus Christ our Savior, if you wanted to sit and listen or not. Phil was a member of the Sparta Baptist Church. Anyone that shared a cup of coffee and some conversation with Phil saw him at his best. The family will receive family and friends at the Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park, on Sunday, February 5, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and on Monday, February 6, 2017 at the Sparta Baptist Church, 38 South State Street, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A celebration of Phil's life will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Sparta Baptist Church, with Rev. Nate Wagner as celebrant. Interment will be held in Idewild Cemetery. Please consider memorials in honor of Phil to Sparta Baptist Church or to the National Kidney Foundation.
