ELENBAAS-Richard Dale Elenbaas, age 85, passed away Monday, January 10, 2022. He was born in Crookston, Minnesota on November 9, 1936 to Henry and Madelyn (Fortier) Elenbaas. Richard married the former Adele Yob in Hepseria, MI, on June 25, 1960, and she preceded him in death on December 29, 2018, having celebrated 58 years of marriage together. He was employed as the warehouse manager for Dykstra Food Service, until his retirement in 1998. Richard is survived by children, Jayne (Kim) Williams, Richard (Michele) Elenbaas, Jr., Jerry (Monica) Elenbaas, Natalie (Robert) Andrus; thirteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren. Richard was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church-Sparta, where he was an usher for many years. He was an avid U of M football fan and enjoyed the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and golfing were a few of his interests. Family time was also of great importance to him. He was a very devoted care giver to his wife Adele.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Richard will be offered Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. from Holy Family Catholic Church-Sparta, with Msgr. Terrence L. Stewart presiding. Interment will be made in Christ the King Catholic Cemetery-Hesperia. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 12, 2022, from 6-8 p.m. at the Beuschel Funeral Home, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 pm. Visitation will be also be one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Memorial contributions in memory of Richard may be given to Holy Family Catholic Church, 425 S. state St., Sparta, MI 49345.
