HIGGINS-Mr. Richard Allen Higgins, age 69, of Comstock Park passed away Friday, November 12, 2021. He was born April 3, 1952 in Kenton, Ohio to Virgil and Idella (Theil) Higgins. Rich married the former Karen (Jo) Richmond on March 10, 1978 in Grand Rapids. He was employed as a spray painter at Steelcase for thirty years until his retirement in 2011. Rich enjoyed fishing and taking annual vacation trips to the upper peninsula with the family. He also enjoyed playing Keno and visiting the casinos. Rich was known also as a great meat smoker, having smoked many different types of meats and game. Rich is survived by his wife Karen (Jo) Higgins; their children, Troy (Fiance Stephanie) Higgins, Amber (Scott) Gustafson, Tim Heemstra; two grandchildren, Zachary and Nicholas Gustafson; one brother, Dirk (Holly) Higgins; four sisters, Bev (Wayne) Bell, Rachel Higgins, Anita (Bill) Trautwein, Sheila Higgins; special friends, Jill, Tim and Jim. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Bill, Tom, Larry, Basil, and Terry Higgins. The family will greet friends and relatives on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 from 6-8 pm at the Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Ave., NW, Comstock Park, MI 49321.
