Obituary

VANHOLSTYN - Richard Alan VanHolstyn, age 54, of Walker, went home to his Creator, Savior and Healer on Tuesday, May 28, 2013. Rick was predeceased by his father, Tom VanHolstyn in 2001. He is survived by his beloved mother, Leona VanHolstyn; brothers, David (Joanne) VanHolstyn, Kenneth (Sherry) VanHolstyn, Steve VanHolstyn; sister, Linda (Richard) Dare; nieces and nephews, Mark (Liz) VanHolstyn, Beth (Tommy) Declercq, Ashley VanHolstyn, Rooke and Tanith Dare; great nieces and nephews, Evelyn and Will Declercq and Max VanHolstyn. The family extends a special thank you to the ALS Association, Hospice of Michigan and Leaves Personal Care Services for all their care during Rick's two year battle with ALS. Rick was an avid golfer and enjoyed skiing and cooking. He dedicated 16 years of his life working for Brann's Steakhouse, as a cook and general manager. Visitation will be held at the Beuschel Funeral Home 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park on Friday, May 31, 2013 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Celebration of Rick's life will be offered on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Rod VanSolkema officiating, of Crossroads Bible Church, with visitation one hour prior at the Beuschel Funeral Home. Interment at Pine Grove Cemetery, 6200 Vinton Avenue NW., Comstock Park, will follow the funeral service. Please consider contributions to ALS or Hospice of Michigan.
