Richard Reynolds II was born on December 10, 1937 to Richard and Jane Reynolds in Grand Rapids, MI; passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023. Richard was a graduate of Union High School in 1955. He enlisted in the Army right out of High School in 1955 and married Ruth Swanson that same year. Richard is survived by his wife, Ruth Reynolds; daughter, Debra (Jim) Kelly; son Richard (Jeanne) Reynolds; grandchildren, Jason & Racheal Waters, Michelle Newenhouse, Krista & Rick DeVault, Kelli White, Jim & Jimilynn Kelly, Nicole & (Rob) Ralph; 13 great grandchildren; brother, Len & (Nancy) Pape; sister, Nancy (Dan) Weller. Richard was preceded in death by his father, Richard Reynolds; mother, Jane Pape; stepfather, Ike Pape; daughter, Cheri Cebelak; sister, Judy Rode. Richard worked at Capital Lumber from 1956 until he moved to Ft. Lauderdale Florida in 1968, towing his 1967 Mini Cooper behind him. As an avid racer, he started racing his Mini at the Miami Dragway in Hollywood Florida. While in Florida he started working at a museum called Spanish Treasure Ship Out of Ft. Lauderdale. Richard moved his family back to Michigan in 1970 opening his business "Pit Stop Foreign Parts". This is where he did a lot of bench racing with fellow racers. His racing career started around this time with his Mini Cooper, which he raced until 1974. Following the mini, he purchased a 1971 Camaro racing in the Trans Am Series. Following the Camaro in 1984 he purchased his Toyota Starlite accumulating 55 wins. After the Toyota in 1990 he acquired a 1962 Volvo 544 with 28 victories the last one coming at age 70. Richard has also been inducted into the Michigan Motor Sports Hall of Fame. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 14, 12:00 pm at Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Ave NW, Comstock Park, MI.
