THOME - Richard (Dick) F. Thome, age 96 of Sparta, passed away peacefully on Monday February 6th, 2023. Dick was preceded in death by his wife Sally, brothers Walter, Erwin, Don, Bob, and sister Dolores. He is survived by his brother Joe (MaryAnn), son Rich of Sparta Michigan, son and daughter-in-law Bruce and Jennifer of Avon Indiana, daughter and son-in-law Nancy and William Middelaer of Connecticut, grandchildren Nick and Kaylyn Thome. Dick was born in Grand Rapids and grew up in Alpine Township on an apple orchard farm. After graduating from Catholic Central High School, he served in the Army at the end of and after World War II. Dick started and owned his own concrete business in 1952 until retiring in 1991. He played baseball in his earlier years and then was an avid golfer for almost 60 years. Dick's family will greet friends and family for visitation at Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park on Thursday February 9th, 2023 from 5-8p.m. The Funeral Mass will be offered at Holy Family Catholic Church, 425 South State Street, Sparta on Friday February 10th, 2023 at 11am, with viewing one hour prior at the church.
