IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rose
Baker
February 1, 1933 – September 4, 2025
Rose Leona (Piccard) Baker, age 92, of Alpine Township, Michigan, departed on her greatest journey to be in the arms of Jesus on Thursday, September 4, 2025. She was a blessing to all with her faith in the Lord and devotion to her family touching many people. Rose was born February 1, 1933, in Alpine Township, to the late Howard and Blanche (Pyard) Piccard. She was a graduate of Sparta High School. Rose married the love of her life, Thomas Frank Baker, on May 1, 1954 at Trinity Congregational Church in Grand Rapids, where they were life-long members. Together, the couple had four children and celebrated 54 years of marriage before Tom passed away on May 21, 2008. Rose was an energetic woman who enjoyed gardening and taking care of her home on "The Ridge". She enjoyed baking, playing cards (particularly cribbage), and was a passionate golfer who had eight holes-in-one. She spent many years volunteering at Butterworth Hospital in the Jr. Mollie Booth Guild and helped teach sewing to several neighborhood kids through 4-H. After Rose's faith in the Lord, her all time number one love and devotion was to her family. She was a proud mother, grandma, and great-grandma, who supported her family in many ways and loved spending time at family gatherings. Survivors include her four children, Don (Karen) Baker, Denise (Bruce Gilbert) DeWys-Gilbert, Dale (Fay) Baker, and Karen (Greg) Busse; a "Baker's Dozen" (13) grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Howard (Kathy) Piccard; sister, Carolyn Cordes; and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; her parents; son-in-law, Mark DeWys; and brother-in-law, Louis Cordes. Gathering of family and friends will take place on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue NW, Comstock Park, MI 49321. Visitation will continue on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Trinity Congregational Church, 2725 4 Mile Rd NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49544, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 11:00 am, with Rose's grandson, Rev. Ryan Busse, officiating and a luncheon to follow. She will be laid to rest with Tom at Rosedale Memorial Park Cemetery at a private family gathering. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Faith Hospice and Trillium Woods for their exceptional care and support throughout the past four months of Rose's journey. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Faith Hospice (click the link below to donate online) or Trinity Congregational Church.
