It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Ruth Ryan, our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend, who died on Saturday, September 5, 2026. Ruth was born on July 24,1936. Along with her parents, she shared her childhood with her two sisters, Marion & Elaine. There were many stories shared of the fun times they had growing up together. Ruth eventually met and married her love, David Ryan, with whom she had four children. They built a life on the northeast side of Grand Rapids, where she remained until her death.

Ruth will be remembered for her witty remarks, her dedication to the PGA, the way she cheered on Peyton & Eli Manning, and her love for Las Vegas, Johnny Mathis, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. She worked for many years at KMart and made countless friends there. She loved having family over in the backyard and made her famous potato salad or tuna salad for those occasions. She will mostly be remembered for the way she made people feel loved, especially her kids, grandkids and extended family.

She is survived by her daughter, Kim Underhill; sons, David (Jodi) Ryan and Michael (Tara) Ryan; grandchildren, Lisa (Randy), Nicholas, Michael (Ryan), Maggie, Ben, and Baylee; and great-grandchildren, Mariah, Chelsea, Ezri, and Roman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David; daughter, Tracy; as well as her parents, sisters, and granddaughter, Lauryn.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue NW, Comstock Park, MI 49321, with the funeral service at 11:00 am. Ruth will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Grand Rapids and according to her wishes, will have her daughter, Tracy, buried with her. We will also be celebrating the life of Tracy at the service.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Faith Hospice.

David and Mike would like to say a special thank you to their sister, Kim, who cared for Ruth, which allowed for her to remain in her home. The family would also like to thank Faith Hospice for their help and compassion throughout this difficult time, especially nurse, Ryan.

Ruth's love remains a guiding presence for all who knew her. We love you forever and always Grams!
