Sandra Kay (Sandy) Alberts, aged 81, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, on Friday, October 18, 2024. She was born on March 25, 1943, the second child of Bill and Marie Townsend. She was married to the love of her life, Richard Alberts, on June 28, 1969. An office administrator by trade, she and her husband started Alpine Automotive in 1972, owning their parts store for over 25 years. She encouraged her family's passion for open wheel racing, she was her husband and son's biggest fan and strongest supporter. She could always be found rooting for her favorite Detroit Tigers, win or lose. She enjoyed family gatherings, her time visiting with special friends, and playing cards. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Cathy Alberts; her beloved grandson, Gerrit; her siblings, Carol Zimmer, Nancy Timmer, and Alma Hofstra, sister-in-law, Judy and brother-in-law, Silvio deCardenas; sister-in-law, Jean Dood, and brother-in-law, Roger and sister-in-law, Fern Alberts; as well as many, many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, friends, and her cherished extended family, Chad Delagrange and Tina & Lexi Long. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brothers, James Townsend and Richard Townsend. A celebration of life will be Sunday, November 3, 2024 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the Fruitport Eagles, 3354 S. Dangl Rd., Muskegon, MI, 49444.
