Sotero Paiz Jr., age 76, of Sparta, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 2, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sotero Sr. and Apolonia Paiz; brother, Ignacio (Nash) Paiz. Sotero is survived by, Arlene K. Paiz; children, Francis (Bill) Connor, Trini (Carol) Paiz, and Joseph (Kelly) Paiz; grandchildren, Danyelle (Dan) Tuthill, Samantha Robbins, Hannah (Austin) Jensen, Madyson Paiz, Tanner Paiz, Maguire Paiz, Trini Paiz II, Emma Morgan, Payton Paiz, and Maxwell Morgan; great-grandchildren, Temperance Tuthill, Maveryk Paiz, Tripp Jensen, Everett Clum, and Trinity Jo Tuthill; brother, Cruz (Frances) Paiz; sisters, Mary (Chris) Vasquez, Lila Garcia, Suzie Ante and Luisa Castillo. Sotero proudly served his country in the US Army 82nd Airborne and was a proud member of the Grand Rapids Fire Department for 27 years. Sotero had a strong competitive nature that came through in all he did. His contagious personality shined whenever he entered a room. Sotero was loved and respected by all he touched. Sotero's passions were golfing, bowling and cooking. He especially loved watching his grandkids play sports and spending time with his family. Sotero will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The family will receive relatives and friends at Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park, on Monday, May 8, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will be offered at Beuschel Funeral Home on Monday, May 8, at 2:00 p.m. following visitation and under the auspices of the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard.
