Obituary

SARACHMAN-Steven "Beaver" Michael Sarachman, passed away of natural causes on October 13, 2018 in Cancun, Mexico. Steve was born December 9, 1955 in Grand Haven and was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Bohdan Sarachman. He is survived by sibling, Melanie (David) Smith, Robert (Sandra) Sarachman, Linda Pearson and Mary (Mike) Knight, as well as, many nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Steve graduated from Fruitport High School in 1974, participated in athletics and played football at Northern Michigan University. Later in life Steve moved to the Lansing area, but wanted to fulfill his dream of living in a warmer and less expensive place and resided in CanCun, Mexcio in 2018. Steve had many challenges in his life, but was forever determined with humor and courage to be a better person. He had the help and support from a multitude of friends and the loving assistance of his family. His AA friends provided him support and strength while attending meetings in the U.S., and Mexico. While living in Lansing he became a member of the Baha'i' Faith and provided him additional support. He was loved by a diverse group of people who will remember him for his crazy sense of humor, loving and generous heart, curiosity, thirst for knowledge, and quest for spirituality. Steve was involved with various services, coached the youth and was involved with Mother Theresa Hospice. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 9, 2018 2:00 p.m., at the Hannah Center, 819 Abbot Road, East Lansing. A later celebration of his life will be held in the spring in Fruitport.
