Susan J. Domeier, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, August 1, 2025, at the age of 92. Born in Manila, Philippines, on March 13, 1933, Susan brought joy, love, and music into the lives of all who knew her.
Susan was renowned for her unwavering faith and love for music which was evident through her active participation in her local churches, especially SS Peter & Paul Church, where she was part of the church choir. Susan was also a familiar face at St. Mary's Church and Sacred Heart of Jesus, forming countless friendships that lasted a lifetime.
Susan treasured her family and will be lovingly remembered by her children, Vivian Hidalgo, Ralf Domeier, Karl (Lori) Domeier, Melissa (John) Burrescia, and Everett (Tami) Domeier. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Nicholas Barker, Lee Victor (Marie) Barker, Stephanie Carey, Robert (Naylen) Carey, Winona (Torey) Hartney, Brandon Harrop, Amanda (Levon) Morefield, Trisha (Cody) Domeier-Akers, Jake Domeier, and Noah Domeier, as well as her many great-grandchildren; and missed by her nieces and nephews. Susan was preceded in death by her devoted loving husband, Peter, and her parents, Felix and Laura Abundo.
Her passions extended beyond her church, as she enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending tranquil moments by the lakeside and going to Butch's Burrito in Grand Haven. She was an active member of the Moose Lodge and an enthusiastic participant at the Pedal Steel Guitar Convention in St. Louis, Missouri. An accomplished musician, she played numerous instruments and shared her love for music with everyone she met.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, August 8, at 11:00 AM at SS Peter & Paul Church, 520 Myrtle St. NW, Grand Rapids, MI. Entombment Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends and relatives may meet the family for a visitation on Thursday, August 7, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Ave NW, Comstock Park, MI and also one hour prior to mass at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. A rosary will be prayed on Thursday at the funeral home starting at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Susan's memory to SS Peter & Paul Church.
