CONNER - Thela Belle Conner, age 94, of Comstock Park, formerly of Lake City, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 25, 2021. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, William B. Conner; parents, Emerson and Faye Delo; sisters Betty Delo and Barbara (Gale) Miller. She is survived by her brother, Merlin (Juanita) Delo; many dearly loved nieces and nephews; and the best neighbor anyone could ever have, Sharon Mull. Thela was born May 20, 1926 in Lake City to Emerson and Faye Delo. She graduated from Lake City High School in 1944 and shortly after moved to Hastings where she worked at Hastings Piston Ring. After a couple of years, she found work in Grand Rapids and she met her husband-to-be: William B. "Bill" Conner. Bill and Thela were married at Lake City on July 16, 1952. They resided at 6056 Vinton Avenue in Comstock Park nearly 59 years. Bill and Thela never had children, but were dearly loved by many, many nieces and nephews. Their neighbor, Sharon, was a loving caregiver to both Bill and Thela, even when they were in a nursing home. Thela was a marvelous cook and she had a gift as a seamstress. She made many Barbie-doll outfits and that would surely make a Barbie fan happy. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park, on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. in Pine Grove Cemetery.
