Thomas George Bereza passed on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at the age of 81. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Betty Bereza. Tom is survived by his loving wife of almost 61 years, Eleanore M. Bereza; children, Marie (James) Regan, Catherine Bereza (Dave Harden); grandchildren, Adam Woodcock (Anisha), Deidre Hutson (Richard), Anne Frazier (Alex), Cameron Hutson (Emelie), Brendan (Kayla) Regan; sister, Sue Bereza; brother, Richard (Judy) Bereza; two nieces, one nephew and their children. Tom graduated from Union High School and proceeded to then graduate from the Michigan State Police Academy in 1963 (recruit school). He retired from the Michigan State Police in 1985 and started his own business: Thomas Investigative Services as an accident reconstruction expert. Tom was an active member of rotary and past president of the Comstock Park Rotary. He was a charter member of the International Association of Accident Reconstruction Specialists (IAARS) and of the Grand Rapids Steelheaders. Tom was an avid runner and participated in the Riverbank Run. His passion was fly fishing and fishing on his boat with his family, on Lake Michigan, though some of the trips included fly fishing in Canada and deep-sea fishing off Cabo San Lucas. Tom lived life to the fullest, was loved by many and will be deeply missed. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 31, 11:00 am at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 6369 Belmont Ave NE, Belmont, MI. Tom will lie in state one hour before mass at the church starting at 10:00 am. Relatives and friends may meet the family at Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Ave NW, Comstock Park, MI, on Wednesday for a visitation from 5-8 pm, where a rosary will be prayed starting at 8:00 pm.
