Walter J. Polus, 79 of Belmont, went to be with his Lord and Savior and polkaed his way to heaven on Tuesday, June 18, 2019. He was preceded in death by parents Stanley and Sophia Polus, sisters, Suzanne and Diane. Walter is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Janis; three sons, David (Susan), Stephen (Lorene), Michael (Carol); grandchildren, Allie, Rachel, Luke, Lexi, Tyler, Jana, Easton; brother Richard (Patty); many nieces and nephews; in-laws, Ed and Charlotte Osterman; Pat and Dee Miller, with whom they took several memorable vacations and baseball trips. Walter graduated from Gaylord St. Mary's High School and was inducted into the Greater Otsego County Sports Hall of Fame, played for the Elmira Spuds and had a lifelong passion for baseball. He graduated from Aquinas College and Davenport College. Walt had a career as a banker, credit manager, and security. Later on in his career, he enjoyed working for the Whitecaps and VanAndel Arena. He was a member of the Polish Heritage Society. Visitation with family and friends will take place at the Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park on Thursday, June 20 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary Service at 8:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 21 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 6390 Belmont Avenue, NE, Belmont with Rev.
